Testimonials

Vicki DeArmon is a dynamo, always has been. She did amazing work with Foghorn Press, essentially taking it from a one-book start up to one of the top publishers in the Publishers Group West list of represented publishers. We're thrilled to have her back with Sibylline Press.

— Elise Cannon, Vice President of Field Sales, Publishers Group West, Ingram Publisher Services

Vicki DeArmon has proven to be a visionary of marketing strategy and campaign planning. She has been able to not only create a social media campaign and shepherd it to completion all the while not only meeting but often exceeding all expectations. Vicki has taken a traditional print catalog campaign and enhanced it with a broad-reaching social media, traditional media outlets including newspapers all with amazing graphics. Her budgeting skills are beyond reproach.

I met Julia as an emerging writer and one of the first things she said to me was, "I'm going to help you." And she did. In the ten years since that first meeting, she has offered invaluable advice on how to find and connect to my audience and first publisher, find outlets for excerpts and supporting essays for my books, and generally navigate the constantly changing publishing industry. Her story and career have served to inspire me and, maybe most importantly, she's really good people.
— Ruby McConnell, author of A Woman’s Guide to the Wild and A Girl’s Guide to the Wild (Sasquatch Books)

In 2015 I took a class from Julia Park Tracey at a writer’s conference. Julia read the first ten pages of my manuscript and asked me to send her the rest of the novel. A week later, even though she’d come down with a rotten cold, Julia reached out, saying,

‘ 1) Start researching agents. 2) Start writing something new. Get going on book #2 (or 3) and work on your proposal. It’s a really lovely story and yes, someday this will be published.’

Knowing that Julia believed in the book was both thrilling and daunting. Her support and encouragement spurred me to query agents and publishers and apply for book awards. Far Less is now published and the recipient of a Gold Forward Indies award and two Silver Nautilus Book awards.

Without Julia, Far Less, would be an unread manuscript, collecting dust under my bed. I’m eternally grateful for Julia’s continued mentorship and support as I navigate the world of publishing, marketing and all things writing!

— Kathy Wollenberg, author of Far Less (Humboldt University Press)

Vicki is truly a delight to work with, and I feel lucky to have worked with her in my capacity as a sales representative for a book publisher. During her time at Copperfield's Books, she organized a full schedule of author events and company-wide promotions for their 8 bookstores in Napa, Sonoma, and Marin counties. Her organizational skills are amazing; she's a nimble and creative collaborator, and she works smoothly with publishers, authors, media contacts, etc. Besides that, she has a great sense of humor. Her deep knowledge of the book business comes through in flying colors. I cannot recommend her highly enough!

— Jim Hankey, sales representative at HarperCollins Publisher
Referencing editorial work on her pending memoir: "This is the most inspiring, supportive, and encouraging feedback I’ve received from anyone during the almost exactly two years since I embarked on this project!"
— Brigit Binns, Author of more than 30 cookbooks including The Relaxed Kitchen, The Cook & the Butcher, and Let’s Do Brunch
For more than a decade, I’ve benefited from having Vicki read my manuscripts in progress. She’s an excellent critical reader for any writer of fiction or nonfiction because she loves books and reads widely and voraciously. She brings her writing talent, skills, humor, intelligence, and imagination to the task of book doctor. She’s brilliant at seeing the big picture—how the story is and could be—and at noticing details that work or don’t work to deliver the story. She offers encouragement and insight, along with ideas for improving the manuscript and specific comments to guide revision.

Smart and wise, Vicki is incredibly insightful with an extraordinary ability to see the big picture. An excellent writer herself, she excels in working collaboratively with others, making the editing process joyful and rewarding.
