Julia Park Tracey featured event at Mrs. Dalloway’s Literary and Garden Arts Bookstore

The Bereaved is based on the author’s research into her grandfather’s past as an adopted child, and the surprising discovery of his family of origin and how he came to be adopted. Author Julia Park Tracey has created a mesmerizing work of historical fiction illuminating the darkest side of the Orphan Train. It takes place in 1859 New York City in a time when women had no rights to property, guardianship of their children, or their own bodies. Threatened with the loss of her children, a grieving widow flees the country for the city, only to find herself ill-equipped to support her family. That’s when the Friends of the Homeless steps in.

About the Author: Author Julia Park Tracey’s ancestors and their stories have given her many trails to follow. An award-winning author, journalist, and poet, Julia lives in the low Sierra Nevada after a childhood in the Wine Country and a career in the East Bay. She is also the Executive Editor and partner in the publishing company, Sibylline Press, formed to publish the brilliant work of women writers over 50.
