SUMMARY:Kate Woodworth to Appear at Wellesley Books in Wellesley, MA
DESCRIPTION:”Emotionally Gripping” (Booklist).\nJoin Kate Woodworth, author of Racing into the Dark; Mira T. Lee, author of Everything Here is Beautiful; and Rae Simpson, PhD, an independent mental health advocate and a board member of NAMI-Cambridge/Middlesex for a discussion about the heartache of loving someone with mental illness and efforts to reduce the stigma.\nBooks will be available to purchase at the event.\nFind out more HERE ( https://wellesleybooks.com/event/woodworth-dark )\nAbout Racing into the Dark:\nSisters Beth and Ellen have always been very close \nEllen—the youngest of three daughters—is the emotional one, always seeking attention and, at times, acting “funny” to get it. The rest of the family dismisses Ellen’s behavior as “overdramatizing.”\nBut as Ellen matures, the boundaries between her fantasy life and reality blur until, when she becomes a mother, her family is forced to act. Despite her responsibilities to her own growing family, Beth repeatedly tries to save her sister, risking her own stable life until she is in danger or losing it all.\nFinally, filled with guilt and anguish over how Ellen’s actions are affecting the rest of the family, Beth must decide how much she can sacrifice to save the sister she loves.\n \nAbout Kate Woodworth:\nKate Woodworth is the award-winning author of the novels Little Great Island and Racing into the Dark (Sibylline Press). She spearheaded the grassroots climate change initiative, Be the Butterfly, that invites everyone to perform one small act to help mitigate climate change. Woodworth writes about the impact of climate change on our food supply on her Substack, “Food in the Time of Climate Change.” She has appeared on C-Span2 Book TV; Good Morning, Utah; NPR’s Maine Calling; and Good Day, Maine, and her essays on climate fiction and the role of fiction writers in the climate discourse have been published by the Climate Fiction Writers League and elsewhere.\n
